At AFI-Rentals Group, sustainability is not just a commitment but fundamental to everything we do. Our business success is not only due to our financial performance but also to our understanding of our responsibilities to our staff, the environment, and the communities in which we operate. We believe that transparency and objective measurement are vital for assessing progress in this area, and we recognise that ESG is a continuous improvement process for all involved.
AFI-Rentals Group strives daily to:
We have invested in a cleaner, greener future for many years and will continue to invest in initiatives that drive meaningful change. In response to ongoing customer demand, we have invested over £20 million towards hybrid and electric equipment since 2020 . We will maintain our commitment to replacing our powered access fleet with specialised hybrid or electric equipment to meet market demand and comply with increasingly stringent emissions regulations. Around 70% of our rental fleet comprises battery and bi-fuel machines, firmly positioning us from a sustainability perspective. Electric machines bring significant savings in running costs and carbon emissions for our customers, while the growth in lithium battery options continues to expand this opportunity. We have been calculating our UK carbon emissions for a decade. By 2022, we had reduced our market-based emissions by more than 30% compared to pre-COVID levels . We continue to target reductions in our carbon footprint and are now operating a carbon offset scheme, investing in certified renewable energy projects to compensate for the emissions arising from our transport activities. Through this scheme, we empower our customers to offset 200% of delivery and 100% of collection emissions when hiring online. Supported by an EcoVadis silver award for sustainability, we are leading the way in making powered access greener, smarter, and more responsible for the future.
